FliXNA - with Xbox and Windows Templates
« on: Sat, Dec 31, 2011 »
This is a port of version 2.55.  It is not yet finished but it has enough features for a full game.  Getting started is really easy with the Templates, all you need is Visual Studio 2008+.

Hi,

Thanks for all the effort. I tried running your example with it but it had debug errors saying that for example in this line:
Code: [Select]
public Player1(int X=0, int Y=0, Texture2D Graphic=null)
that "Error   2   Default parameter specifiers are not permitted   x:\Users\xxx\Desktop\WindowsGame1\WindowsGame1\Flixel\FlxQuadTree.cs   147   75   WindowsGame1
"

BTW I'm still using XNA 3.1 with VS 2008, so maybe that's the problem.

I think you should make a template for it so people can open their project easier. Maybe a SVN or GitHub helps too.

Keep up the great work!

yep XNA 3 is your problem, it doesn't allow optional parameters.  upgrade to 4.0 and you should be fine.  and I just put a github up last night :), template coming soon

Are you planning on doing the Flixel Power Tools as well?

I haven't thought about the Power Tools, but maybe if I can get all the features to work like they should then I'll port that too

YES!
This is awesome.

I spent a little bit of time with the Mode demo and Flixel port that St. Aiden wrote.

Easy access to controllers is the best part of XNA.

Big thanks for making templates. A boiler plate is the biggest help to hobbyists who just want to code, and don't want to link libraries or whatever you real programmers do.

I'm trying this out as soon as I can. Thanks!

Oooo, an XNA port of Flixel OMGYES!

Maybe I'll be more motivated to try it out, I'm going to assume this wont work with 3D stuff am I right?

2D only just like flixel, might be possible if you modify the source though

I tried to set up the environment here with the template you've provided...

And it says it can't find the type definition for FlxPath...

This file doesn't even seem to exist on the namespace...

plz...halp? D:

I haven't had time to work on it any more since school has started again.  I'll have more time after this semester.  But I definitely want to improve what I have and finish porting over the rest of the features.

I'd like to offer my help but I'm unsure what things are unfinished. Can you maybe provide a list and I can work on porting some stuff that hasn't been done?

It looks like there's a lot that's missing if you start comparing with the original flixel code. For example, the entire FlxButton class is missing.  I've made some tweaks myself, for example making the flxSprite class use sprite sheets instead of just strips, but I'm not sure how to contribute back to the main project. Percevic mentioned that scrollFactor wasn't working, but I haven't dug into the code enough to see what's going on with it.

I'd really like to contribute for a newer version of flixel ported to XNA, the st. aidan version is functional but very outdated.

Repost (http://forums.flixel.org/index.php?topic=5748.0)

percevic's GitHub account is down
Does anyone has a copy of fliXNA he could upload for me or is there even something newer (more maintained) available?

Hey sorry, I changed my github name, the repo is still alive: https://github.com/bpercevic/flixel-XNA

It is untouched since the last commit about a year ago lol, I haven't had time, with programming full-time and such. Feel free to edit the crap out of that,  because I learned to program with flixel and ActionScript, and the port was my first attempt at anything cool, and anything of that scale. If I remember correctly it works, but the code could be crap :)
