Not "based-on" flixel, but a full, nearly 1:1 port of the flixel structure.
note that:
  • It will probably be based on an older version (2.35 probably).
  • Small changes will be made for rendering, allowing for the canvas, webGL, and/or the DOM.
  • Creating objects will be slightly different, as JavaScript has no built-in support for classes.
I've already gotten started, but it's more FlashPunk-like right now. Also, if anyone is already doing this, let me know so I don't make a complete fool of myself ;)

I would as I'm comfortable with flixel as of now and I think most flixel devs might feel so as well.

So we would still have to author in JS? I'm not a big fan of the language.

I don't want to spoil the show but you can already have HTML5 Flixel with Haxe and HaxeFlixel compiled to HTML5 target. Shameless plug: I'm using it for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.vigeo.simon. It's still Flixel all the way and Haxe is almost identical with ActionScript 3.

Or you can also use flixel-monkey https://github.com/devolonter/flixel-monkey ( htm5, flash, ios, android, xbox, windows, mac, and psvita ) But if you don't want to pay you can also use haXe version which is pretty good too.

I'm working with Monkey Flixel now, definitely awesome to use and easily ported to other platforms. However, the PSP Vita currently doesn't work with it.

you can use jangaroo for targeting html5 without (almost) any change in as3 code: http://www.jangaroo.net/applications/
