I think you should stick with the integrated physics in flixel. It is based in boxes but isn't complex while box 2D requires certain practice.
Also flixel is better when used with FlashDevelop I think. I never tried CS5 and of course, it's paid.

The light must be added before the darkness Sprite.

And I never tried the overlay mode, I don't know if it works.

You could use the dynamic lighting thing also. I used it for my game and It work charms recreating night and day.

I recall someone who had the same problem and was asking help in the FGL forums, was it you?
Fraps should be detecting your window, there isn't any special way to do this. If I remember well this person fixed his problem updating his graphics driver. I would consider reinstalling everything including the web IE explorer flash and updating your directx runtime libraries.

As for using any of the above for flixel I just don't see the point! Keep your movieclip and just use it in your game. Convert it to a sprite sheet on the fly via code if you really need to.

So I don't loose all the helpful classes of the FlxSprite if I use a movieclip as a sprite? what about the performance, animations and that stuff?

Today I saw this video about the new features of flash (I think it is CS6) and I was wondering some things.

First of all what is that file with coordinates and code that gets exported with the PNG sprite sheet. I suppose is the code that has the dimensions and coordinates of every image, but If I want to use this kind of sprite with flixel, shouldn't I have every frame with the same dimension? Using this in this way wouldn't be worse in terms of memory? How can I trim the images to save space but get them working on flixel?

The trailer was done in Windows Movie Maker (the win 7 version) and I recorded the game with FRAPS. (it records wonderful at 60fps). Also the music is done in in FL studio. I am not an expert but I like composing some tunes you can hear here http://soundcloud.com/esti-2

Light Quest is a small platformer with a lighting and darkness mechanic and my first official game. For the project I worked with an artist who made all the sprites while I worked on the game design, code and music. I just submitted it for approbation on FGL so you can try it here!

Thanks! I wont be using the flixel site locking anyway. The secure swf demo site locking worked just fine, I thought it wasn't because I tested with the preview link everytime I uploaded the game and I didn't refresh the cache with F5 so I was seeing an older version of my game.

The preloader started working!
